This is an entry-level position suited to a person with 0-2 years of relevant experience looking to gain access to the exciting energy efficiency/green industry. The Associate position is an integral role in our pre-assessment, solutions design, solutions implementation, and measurement and verification process. Training and support will be provided to build skills quickly in this exciting, growing, global industry; however, it is expected that the right person will take initiative to go above and beyond to learn the business.

Specific attention to detail is a vital characteristic of the position as Associates are held accountable for providing reports and documentation at the various stages of the project from design through solution implementation and measurement and verification, tracking utility rebate applications, and for communication within the team and to clients when necessary. As an Associate, you will be responsible for:

  • collection and analysis of utility bills and consumption data
  • responding to the team project managers and energy engineers’ requests for research and reporting
  • supporting the project and client needs

Electrical Systems Specialist

This is a mid-level position suited to a person with no less than 5-8 years of relevant experience looking to gain access to the exciting energy efficiency/green industry. Training and support will be provided to build skills quickly in this exciting, growing, global industry. This position will:

  • assist in the day to day project management, monitoring, and maintenance of GreenGen client sites with oversight of subcontractors
  • oversee maintenance repairs and modifications
  • review cost estimates, specifications, drawings, and construction documents

Education and Qualifications: Minimum high school diploma or G.E.D.; post-secondary vocational /trade school or engineering or military training preferred.

Required Licenses: Master/Certified Electrician’s license 

Mandatory Skills:

  • Knowledge of building system operation, maintenance and controls, including HVAC and lighting; familiar with building standards, technologies and controls; experience with end-use metering instrumentation is extremely desirable

Energy Solutions Engineer

Our Energy Solutions Engineer is a person with 5-10 years of relevant in-depth knowledge of commercial, institutional, hospitality, and manufacturing facilities with substantial practical experience in reducing a building's energy consumption. This position requires significant experience and comfort with energy modeling, including e-Quest.

This position will conduct preliminary assessments of building system performance, assist with data analysis and the development of solutions to achieve the optimal balance of minimizing energy consumption and expense while maximizing occupant comfort. The Energy Solutions Engineer will analyze and identify ways and means to improve the effectiveness of energy consumption; serve as an advisor on energy matters while reviewing cost estimates, specifications, drawings, construction documents, maintenance repairs and modifications; and assist in the day to day project management, monitoring, and maintenance of GreenGen client sites with oversight of subcontractors.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degrees in relevant fields preferred – Electrical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Building Science – or at least 10 years' practical experience
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and/or sustainability

Lighting Engineer

Our Lighting Engineer is a mid-level position with no less than 3 to 5 years of relevant work and/or specialized educational experience looking to gain access to the exciting energy efficiency industry. The LE will be responsible for assisting in the assessment, design, engineering and pricing of new, remodel and retrofit projects for lighting.

Under general direction of the Senior Lighting Engineer, the LE will work as part of the Solutions Team to perform time-critical assessments, investment grade audits, analyses of existing lighting designs, designs of energy-efficient lighting retrofits, and measurement and verification functions for lighting solutions. The LE will assist in the evaluation and recommendations from gathered field data to assist in lighting project development. They will also conduct site and end-user interviews and provide documentation and other required deliverables to support proposal and final lighting designs. The LE will work with design managers and solution engineers to determine the feasibility of the proposed recommendations while still meeting customer financial goals.

Education and Mandatory Skills:

In addition to a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required with a minimum of 3 to 5 years relevant experience, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong understanding of the various types and nomenclature of luminaires, lamps, options, and mountings with working knowledge of the likely lamping types, wattages, and power sources in inaccessible fixtures to accurately depict existing conditions to Solutions team who have not been on site.

  • Assist in generating final design product specification, cut-sheets submittals, purchase order quantities, and installation guides according to final design.
  • Work with the clients’ facility managers or designated representatives to communicate expected schedules and critical timelines for completion of audits and M&V evolutions.
  • Adhere to key custody protocols and/or escorts to access customer spaces. Note and communicate accessibility restrictions and safety conditions to management that may impact project implementation.
  • Assist with taking power readings using a digital multi-meter from various metering points as required at various areas within customer locations to determine power quality and consumption of existing lighting loads.
  • Assists with post-retrofit kW/kWh measurements to validate and ensure savings are consistent with Performance Contracts and other Energy Solutions contract obligations and guarantees.
  • Meets with fixture, sensor, and specialty product vendors during projects to leverage assistance with implementation of technologies to increase project value.
  • Works with our Rebate Analysts to determine available utility rebates and best incorporation of solutions and alternatives to optimize balance between net cost and lighting design best-practices. Incorporates those rebates into cost payback analysis for the customer.
  • Review proposal to ensure that calculated payback is feasible, realistic, and falls within customer’s parameters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Project Manager (US)

GreenGen currently has a new opportunity based in Bethesda, Maryland for a Project Manager to join its Solutions Team leading the final design, construction and successful implementation of energy efficiency, conservation, and renewable technology projects. As a GreenGen Project Manager, you will be working directly with GreenGen partners, energy engineers, and client executives on projects that will further develop your leadership, project management, communication, management, business/energy engineering skills.

We are looking for a self-starting, energetic individual to assist with the implementation of large, complex, and mission-critical energy services projects and work with our clients’ facilities maintenance staff and onsite vendors to identify, evaluate, implement and then monitor various cost-effective energy conservation measures (ECMs). These ECMs typically include lighting retrofits, retrocommissioning measures, and mechanical equipment replacements. ECM evaluation includes analyses of the measure’s total life-cycle cost. 

Education and Qualifications:  

  • Minimum 6 years electrical, mechanical, engineering, or industrial power construction project management work experience focusing on complex facility infrastructure construction, renovations, retrofits, upgrades, building controls and automation, energy services, and renewable technology.
  • B.S. and/or M.S. degree in engineering, construction/project management or equivalent experience in a similar role;

  • Write and install energy management routines for building automation systems
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Travel: Travel to client locations within the US, and possibly South America, Caribbean, and UK will be required for this role up to 30%–40% of the time

Proposal Writer (PT)

GreenGen is seeking to hire a motivated part-time exceptional proposal writer to join our exceptional team. This opportunity requires the candidate to have a proven track record of writing dynamic proposals in pursuit of local, state and federal government projects, with a focus on the GSA schedule. The candidate must have a minimum of five years of experience writing proposals for government contracts.

The successful candidate report directly to the Co-Founder and CEO and be responsible for solidifying and maintaining GreenGen’s position as an industry leading energy efficiency solutions provider within the public sector. You will coordinate and contribute to the planning and writing of responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) for public and federal contracts, contract vehicles, and task orders. GreenGen holds Contract # GS-07F-143BA under the GSA Schedule 84. Additional work may include speeches, press releases, and award applications in support of GreenGen’s growth.

Education and Qualifications:

About Our Internship Program

Goal of the program: This program is primarily concerned with helping interns develop skills and knowledge that will aid them in professional careers in the energy efficiency industry, our hope is that at the end of the semester, this experience will prepare the intern to develop an understanding of how to create value through reducing operating costs in existing buildings, and give the intern a picture of what it is like to work in our industry. We seek interns for the fall and spring semesters, as well as for the summer.

What we are looking for in a candidate: We are looking for graduate and undergraduate students with a passion for real estate, operations, engineering, and cleantech who can bring demonstrated knowledge of energy efficiency technologies, renewable energy, energy procurement, or real estate to our team. Unique skills in energy modeling, Excel, PowerPoint, or engineering and design are a plus. We will consider candidates with any background, provided that the candidate can effectively express how they can create value for our team and how they can learn from their experience with GreenGen.
